Audioplex plays your Mac's audio through several speakers or TVs at once, in sync. If something isn't working, start here.

How do I start?

Click the Audioplex icon in the menu bar and press the play button. Switch on the outputs you want to include, then tune each delay slider, or press Calibrate and let Audioplex measure them for you. Your system's current default output is always part of the session.

Why did macOS ask for Microphone and System Audio permission?

Audioplex captures system audio in order to play it through the outputs you select, and it measures each device's latency with a short test tone picked up by the microphone. Both happen entirely on your Mac. Grant them once in System Settings → Privacy & Security, under System Audio Recording (listed as Screen Recording on some versions) and Microphone.

Calibration says a device wasn't heard

Check that the device is powered on and audible, that its volume isn't at zero, and that no other app is holding the microphone exclusively. If one device still isn't heard, run calibration again with only that device enabled, and keep the room reasonably quiet while it measures.

Bluetooth speakers are out of sync

Run Calibrate from the panel. Audioplex measures each device and applies the delay it needs. Re-run it if you move the speakers, reconnect them, or add a new one, since wireless latency changes with the transport.

A device is missing from the list

Audioplex lists exactly what Core Audio reports, so if a device doesn't appear, macOS isn't seeing it either. Confirm it shows up in System Settings → Sound → Output first. AirPlay targets appear once macOS has discovered them on the network.

Audio drops out or crackles on one speaker

This is usually a congested Bluetooth link rather than Audioplex. Reduce the number of simultaneous wireless outputs, move the speaker closer, or connect one of them by cable. Wired and AirPlay outputs are considerably more stable than several Bluetooth devices at once.

The volume keys don't do what I expect

During a session there's no longer a single output for a system-wide volume change to act on. Use each device's own controls, or the source app's volume.

How do I remove Audioplex?

Switch off Launch at Startup if you enabled it, quit Audioplex, then drag it from /Applications to the Trash. Nothing else is installed: no drivers, no daemons, no helper tools.

The app is provided as is, without warranty of any kind. Audioplex routes audio between devices on your own Mac; it doesn't guarantee any particular latency, sync accuracy or device compatibility, all of which depend on your hardware and on macOS.
